Two law professors completed a two-week lecture tour in Korea during May. Svitlana Kravchenko and John Bonine spoke at six law schools and several other institutions during the trip.
Highlights included a lecture at the Constitutional Court of Korea. Kravchenko discussed developments in international human rights tribunals regarding the right to a healthy environment. Bonine dissected a recent decision of Korea’s Constitutional Court, interpreting and applying the constitutional provision the right to a safe environment.
The two presented a lecture to the staff of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea. They were also invited to speak at the Korean Environmental Law Forum, an association of environmental law professors from throughout the country.
They ended their trip with a few days in Japan, lecturing at UO’s partner university, Waseda in Tokyo and Chuo University Law School.
